What’s coming up in St. Francisville

Music at The Mag    -  Friday –October 24-Band on the Run

The Magnolia Café will stay open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights in October.

Historical Society Museum has a new exhibit through the month of October

The exhibit features local memorabilia on World War 1.  The museum is open daily from 9am until 5pm and on Sundays from 9:30am until 5pm.

Angola Prison Rodeo – every Sunday in October
The Wildest Show in the South – gates open at 9am, rodeo begins at 2pm and crafts stay open until 5pm. For ticket information 225 655 2030 or online at

The Myrtles Plantation Halloween Extravaganza
The Myrtles Plantation will host their Halloween Extravaganza every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in October For details please call 225 635 6277

The Carriage House Restaurant at The Myrtles Plantation will be open for dinner every Sunday in October until 8pm

Friends of the Library Book Sale – at the NEW Library on Burnett Road
A special “Friends Only” sale will be held on Friday October 24th from 8:30 until 4pm.  This is a thank you to the friends for all their support.

Saturday –October 25th the sale will open to the public at 8:30am and end at 2:30pm.  Great selection, speciality items, unbelievably low prices, the Friends will also have refreshments.

The Yellow Leaf Arts Festival – October 25 and 26
October 25th and 26th, 2014 from 10 until 5 both days

You will find exclusively artists and craftspeople showing and selling their hand-made creations, great live music, activities for children, farmers with home-grown sweet potatoes and goodies made with home-grown sweet potatoes, all nestled in the friendly, relaxed, authentic, small town quaintness that is St. Francisville.  You really don’t want to miss this!

Music schedule: Saturday-  2nd grade choir- 10:00; songbird jam session/open mic – 10:30;  Clay Parker- noon;  Patrick Sylvest- 1:45;  Poetry readings-  3:30              

Sunday- songwriter showcase- 10:00 a.m. until noon; The Wilder Janes- 1:00;  The Fugitive Poets- 2:30

New this year: Native Bird Photography Contest.  All photographers are encouraged to enter up to three photographs of birds taken in West Feliciana, East Feliciana, or Pointe Coupee Parishes.  They will be hung at the festival on Saturday morning with judging to take place on Saturday.  Winners will be announced on Sunday afternoon at noon. Rosedown Plantation SHS October 27-November 3

Rosedown Plantation will be showcasing Rosedown Funeral and Soul Stories. 

The Rosedown Main House will be in mourning as Rosedown Interpretive Staff honors the memory of Daniel Turnbull.  Throughout the week, the house will be decorated according to 19th century mourning customs and on October 31st, at 4pm the staff will be dressed in 19th century-style mourning costumes and will present a first person interpretation of the Turnbull-Bowman family members as they speak about their lives and share reminiscences from the pasts.

Trick or Treat down Main Street and local Halloween Carnivals – Thursday October 30th.  Carnivals at the First Baptist Church from 6pm-8pm and the United Methodist Church campus on Royal St from 6pm-8pm.

St. Francisville Symphony Association presents their second concert.

Friday, November 7 at 7:00 pm at Grace Church.  "The Baroque Sonata".
