Rosedown Plantation SHS October 27-November 3
Rosedown Plantation will be showcasing Rosedown Funeral and Soul Stories.
The Rosedown Main House will be in mourning as Rosedown Interpretive Staff honors the memory of Daniel Turnbull. Throughout the week, the house will be decorated according to 19th century mourning customs and on October 31st, at 4pm the staff will be dressed in 19th century-style mourning costumes and will present a first person interpretation of the Turnbull-Bowman family members as they speak about their lives and share reminiscences from the pasts.

Veterans Day Wall at Rosedown SHS: November 1-30, 2014, 9 am-5 pm. During the month of November, visitors can help us honor past and present veterans by providing photographs for a Veterans Day Wall in the gift shop conference room. The Wall will also include information about the Turnbull and Bowman family veterans. Please provide pictures no larger than 8 x 10” and nametags with information such as branch, rank, etc. Pictures must be copies—no originals will be accepted. November 8, Audubon State Historic Site, St. Francisville - A Veterans Day Commemoration, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Bring the family to celebrate Veterans Day at Audubon State Historic Site with special activities celebrating the nation’s military history. Learn how American military uniforms and weapons have changed over the past 300 years and see demonstrations. 2014 LOUISIANA VETERANS FOUNDATION FESTIVAL

The Louisiana Veterans Festival honors Louisiana Veterans with an all-day event, which includes music, food, crafts, silent auction, military aircraft, children’s activities, a total family event.
Music starts at noon. With featured artists MARCIA BALL and JIMMIE VAUGHAN and THE TILT A WHIRL BAND featuring LOU ANN BARTON as well as local artists.
The cook-off will feature several Louisiana chefs cooking BBQ chicken, gumbo, jambalaya and more.
Net proceeds go to the Louisiana Veterans Foundations support of disabled Louisiana veterans, assistance with finding employment for returning Louisiana veterans and support for their families.

River Bend – Recycle Fashion Show November 18th
River Bend is hosting the second annual Recycled Fashion Show at the West Feliciana High School Auditorium on November 18th at 6:00pm. This year’s theme is “A Recycled Night at the Movies” and participates are encouraged to create a recycled outfit inspired by a movie. It’s free to enter the show and anyone can participate. There will be cash prizes for the winner of each division.
