August 23, Port Hudson State Historic Site, Zachary – Artillery 101, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Ever wonder how Civil War soldiers loaded their cannons? Rosedown State Historic Site will offer:

Photo Day:  September 4 & 18, 2014, 5-8 pm. This is a paid evening program. The park will stay open until dark on designated days. Each person will pay $15 to take pictures throughout the grounds, but not in buildings, from 5:00pm until dark around 8:00pm. Photographers will make reservations in advance to take the desirable sunset pictures of Rosedown.  Payment will be required before 5:00pm and a parking pass will be issued. The scheduled days are the first and third Thursdays of September 2014 and April and May 2015.

Garden Tour Fridays: September 5, 2014, 10 am. A guided walking tour of the historic Rosedown Gardens and Outbuildings.  Program occurs every first Friday of each month. For more information call 888.376.1867 toll free or 635.3110 locally.

Harvest Moon Twilight Tour:  September 8, 2014, 6-7 pm. This is a paid program.  Rosedown Plantation invites visitors to a special Harvest Moon twilight tour of the historic gardens, as costumed interpreters will provide a guided tour discussing gardening practices and tools of the 19th century, based on Martha Turnbull’s garden journal.  Special attention will be given to the influence of moon phases on planting.  Visitors pay $15 per person to attend.
