This year marks the Bicentennial of Louisiana becoming a state. A large part of Louisiana's identity is the unique and delicious food found throughout the state, so it is only fitting to have an exhibit that celebrates the food and culinary culture. Senior Olympics Take the Stage At May 16 OLLI Coffee Meeting
There is no such thing as being "too old for sports!" That's the belief of many people and especially of Jason Wall, executive director of the Louisiana Senior Olympic Games. Mr. Wall will be the guest speaker of the Feliciana OLLI Chapter at their Coffee Party on Wednesday May 16, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
As director of the Louisiana Senior Olympics, Mr. Wall likes to quote the slogan - "activities through the ages - join the fun: there's something for everyone." He is a Baton Rouge native, a graduate of Catholic High school and LSU and a former LSU Baseball team pitcher.
The Louisiana Senior Olympics is a nonprofit organization that promotes physical fitness and an improved quality of life for people over 50 through sports and physical training. LSOG plans, promotes, and conducts a statewide program which includes competitions held at the local or district level, an annual state event, and participation in biennial National Senior Games. Events included in the games include archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, dance teams, fitness challenge, golf, horse shoes, pickleball, power lifts, racquetball, racewalk, 5 & 10K road races, shooting, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis, throws, track & field, volleyball, walk-a-thon, washer pitch and weightlifting. So you see….there really is something for everyone!!!
All residents 50+ years of age are invited to the Olli Coffee on May 16th at 10 am at the First Baptist Church in St. Francisville located at the intersection of highway 61 and 10. There is no fee for the morning program but good coffee, home-baked sweets, and good company.
