Let's support our local entrepreneurs.   Audubon State Historic Site – July 23rd.   Nature, Naturally! 1pm-4pm three interactive stations take visitors through the natural side of the park while introducing both plants and wildlife found on the grounds.  For more information call 888-677-2838 or 635-3739.   Audubon State Historic Site – July 24th   Life in the Slave Cabin 11is, 1pm and 3pm.  A park ranger will lead visitors through the cabins and talk about life for the enslaved persons of the plantation.  For more information call 888-677-2838 or 635-3739.   Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration – July 29 & 30th   The Feliciana Nature Society will hold their annual Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration on Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, 2011 in St. Francisville, Louisiana.  The Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration promotes the unique breeding habitat found in the St. Francisville area.  The event will include a Friday evening speaker and the opportunity to observe hummingbirds up close as they are banded at two private homes in the St. Francisville area on Saturday. Hummingbird-friendly plants will also be available for sale.   The Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration will begin with a reception on Friday evening, July 29, at Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, 12501Hwy. 10, St. Francisville.  Beginning at 6 p.m., visitors can enjoy wine and cheese sponsored by the West Feliciana Parish Hospital while strolling the gardens of Rosedown.  At 6:45 p.m., Mr. Charles Fryling will speak on attracting Birds to Southern Gardens. Admission is Free   The festival will continue on Saturday, July 30.  From 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., hummingbird biologists Linda Beall and Nancy Newfield will capture and band birds at two beautiful gardens in the St. Francisville area.  Visitors will have the opportunity to observe hummingbirds up close as they are weighed and measured.  In addition, vendors will be at both homes with hummingbird-attractive plants available for sale.  The gardens include those of the National WildBird Refuge at 15736 Tunica Trace (Hwy. 66) and Murrell Butler at 9485 Oak Hill Road.  Admission is free.   August Brings: August 13th  Signing Reception for the book, "Edwin Edwards, Governor of Louisiana" from 6pm to 8pm at Hemingbough.  Edwin Edwards and Leo Honeycutt will be there to sell and sign books.  August 20th   Let's Roll for Scott – fundraiser for Scott Sanchez.  West Feliciana Parish Sports Park will host a carnival.    August 27th   White Linen Night downtown 5pm until 9pm.  Music, Art, Food and Fun.  Hope on the Highland Banks Trolley or stroll with your friends, sample our restaurants food, dance to the music, enjoy the last days of summer.   September brings Smokin in da Ville on the 2nd and 3rd.     Your Subscription: Change your subscription Unsubscribe Powered by Joobi
