An Enslaved Life Feb. 9th 10:00AM – 4:00PM

Come to Audubon State Historic Site and explore life for the African American enslaved persons who worked at Oakley Plantation. A tour of the slave cabins will relate life for the enslaved on the plantation and how they adapted to their condition. Other demonstrations will include a taste of food, daily tasks, and recreation on a plantation.

For more information, call 1-888-677-2838 toll free or 635-3739 in the St. Francisville area.

On February 10 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., there will be an exhibit of original found art by Kelly Ward and Marcia KistnerRoberg at the Arts for All Studio, located at 5877 Commerce St. in the Quarters in St. Francisville.  "I Found my Art in St. Francisville" will include various three-dimensional pieces of art by these two local artists. According to Lynn Wood, owner and manager of the Birdman Coffee and Books Café, "There is no art comparable to this.  It's a 'must see'!"

For those zany, free-spirited artists and art-lovers who love a parade, at 4:00 p.m. an anyone-can-participate parade will take place from the Arts for All Studio to the Birdman Coffee and Books at 5687 Commerce St.  Participants are encouraged to be creative in their dress and may make music on the parade route with kazoos, tin pans, or any musical instrument anyone can invent.  Although motorized vehicles are prohibited, tricycles, bicycles, wagons, and strollers are encouraged.

The parade will end with a potluck party at the Birdman.  Donations for the area Arts for All are welcomed.  Arts for All is an organization that encourages the arts in West Feliciana Parish.

Activities will include cannon firing drills, black powder musket drills, and camp life talks. For more information call 888.677.2838 toll free or 635.3739 locally.
